Diglipur, Oct. 23: The stretch of the APWD road starting from Madhupur to Shyamnagar village, barring a negligible stretch, is in an extremely dilapidated condition.
As per reports, the APWD road spanning from Madhupur to Laxmipur and then from Milangram to Hathilevel has deteriorated significantly, causing immense hardship for residents and vehicle owners alike.
The road’s deplorable condition has sparked widespread outrage among commuters, motorists, truck owners, and other road users, who claim that the concerned department’s failure to repair the road has worsened the issue. Motorists experience a bumpy ride and also have to compromise on their vehicles’ safety. “There are big craters, or one may say the road has now turned into floodplains filled with potholes and uneven surfaces,” the locals and motorists decried.
On the other hand, it is astonishing that some sections of this road got damaged within two to three months after repairs, which speaks volumes about the specifications and standard of work carried out on the road in question, the locals bemoaned. They also demanded a fair investigation into how roads can become rundown within such a short period after repairs.
The locals, commuters, motorists, truck owners, and other road users, echoing the same voice, urged the administration to look into the matter and redress the problems they are facing due to this dilapidated road condition.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily posed questions to the concerned APWD officials, they said that due to excessive rain, the department cannot properly carry out repair work. However, they are monitoring the condition of the road and are reportedly filling the larger potholes with stone materials to somehow make the road motorable. They further informed that the estimate for the roadwork has been sent for sanction and is still awaiting approval from the concerned Ministry.
