Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, has urged the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to take strict action against government vehicles reportedly operating without valid fitness certificates, insurance, and pollution control certificates.
In his representation addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mr. Lall highlighted a recent incident involving an APWD departmental vehicle (Regn. No. AN-01 D1111), which met with an accident near Garacharma on 13th October 2025, hitting a two-wheeler. Upon verification, it was found that the vehicle’s fitness certificate had expired and that it did not possess valid insurance or pollution certificates.
He stated that such lapses amount to serious negligence and violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, posing a risk to public safety and undermining the credibility of government departments.
Mr. Lall has requested that strict directions be issued to all government departments to ensure that no official vehicle is operated without valid statutory documents. He further emphasized that responsibility should be fixed on the concerned vehicle in-charge or departmental head in cases of non-compliance.
He expressed confidence that timely and firm administrative measures by the Administration would help prevent such incidents in the future and enhance accountability in the operation and maintenance of government vehicles.
