Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The first-ever Andaman & Nicobar Artists Welfare Federation (ANAWF), Prothrapur, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman, bearing registration number 20251011RS00070, organized a press introductory meet at 6:00 p.m. on October 11, 2025. Media persons from the electronic, print, and social media gathered and interacted with the members of the management committee of ANAWF. The program began with the lighting of the traditional lamp.
The General Secretary of ANAWF, Mr. Waahid Shah, briefed about the aims and objectives of the Federation. He also appealed to all forms and types of artists (Singers, Actors, Dancers, Anchors, Models, Rappers, DJs, Painters, Mimicry Artists, Mime Performers, Sand Artists, Rangoli Artists, Classical, Folk, and Western performers, etc.) from North & Middle Andaman, Nicobar Group of Islands, and Sri Vijaya Puram to join the Federation in order to strengthen and promote the field of artistry in the Islands.
He also emphasized the Aatmanirbhar Bharat policy of the Government of India and appealed to private organizers as well as government bodies to provide more opportunities to talented and experienced unemployed artists of the Islands so that they could earn a respectable livelihood for their families. In this regard, organizers such as Pooja Committees, NGOs, Social Groups, Corporates, and others were invited to contact the Federation for discussions, guidance, and recommendations of suitable artists.
Senior citizen and executive body member Mrs. Kaveri Deb Sharma highlighted the role of women in the field of art and culture. All the Management and Executive Committee members were honored with shawls. This program also marked the launch of the official logo of the Artists Federation. It was further informed that official Facebook and YouTube channels have already been created.
