Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 05: In adherence to the University syllabus and guidelines for History students, an enriching 15-day internship focused on the theme “50 Years Development Journey of Gram Panchayat Harinagar from 1970 to 2020” commenced on 22nd October 2025 and concluded today with a grand function at the Harinagar Panchayat Bhavan. This event was graciously organized by the Pradhan and the members of the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI).
The culmination of the internship was honored by the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr. Manjit Singh, Ranger of the Betapur Range as the Chief Guest, along with dignitaries such as Mr. Manikam, SHO of PS Billiground, and senior citizens Mr. K.C. Nag, Mr. Hiremoy Roy, Mrs.Jyotsna Kannan, and Mrs. Sabetri Barman, Up Sarpanch of Harinagar Gram Panchayat. Their participation added significance to the function.
Kumari Tete, a final-year History student, welcomed the distinguished guests and attendees with an insightful speech that set the tone for the occasion. This was followed by a unique presentation by students, showcasing their hard work and learnings during the internship period.
Sharing her personal experiences from the past 15 days, Kumari Soniya Bahadur, a student from the History Department, expressed her gratitude and insights gained throughout the internship.
Dr. P.K. Mandal, Senior Faculty of the Department of History and in-charge of the internship at MG College, Mayabunder, emphasized the need for historical research within the internship framework. He also highlighted the challenges encountered by students while appreciating the collaborative efforts of citizens and officials from various departments. Their support was instrumental in making this internship a successful experience for the participating students.
In an inspiring address, Chief Guest Mr. Manjit Singh blessed the students, wishing them every success in their future endeavors. The Pradhan of Harinagar presented the internship completion certificates to the students, a significant milestone marking their efforts and achievements.
The closing ceremony was wrapped up with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan of Harinagar Gram Panchayat, who also hosted a sweet meeting to celebrate the successful conclusion of the internship program. This initiative not only aims to enhance students’ understanding of local governance and development but also to instill a sense of community service and responsibility among the youth.
