Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 21:Nicobar Forest Division in coordination with other line Departments, PRIs members and general public organised a Coastal Clean Up Drive as part of ‘International Coastal Clean Up Day- 2025’ on the theme ‘Tackling Textile and Fashion waste’ at B- Quarry Beach, Campbell Bay yesterday.
During the coastal clean-up programme, entire stretch of coastal area surrounding B-Quarry beach were thoroughly cleaned up and the trash collected were disposed-off in a systematic manner at the local Solid Waste Management Unit, creating awareness among the local youth/community, staff and workers of all the line departments with regards to Ocean health and its ecology, avoiding menace of marine litter and to adopt environmentally sustainable lifestyle to ensure cleaner and healthier beaches and coastal Ecosystem.
Integrating the coastal clean-up drive with the ongoing “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Campaign, a ceremonial planting programme was also organised in the beach premises by the Officers and Staffs attached to the Forest Division, whereby 25 seedlings of both fruit bearing/coastal species were planted by the gathering.
