Campbell Bay, Sept. 18: A week-long chess training programme organised by the Education Department for students of Campbell Bay Zone commenced today at the Community Hall of Gram Panchayat, Campbell Bay. Dr. Keshav Narendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest and made the ceremonial first move to mark the beginning of the training.
In his address, the chief guest expressed gratitude to Director (Education), for facilitating such an initiative in this far-flung area and urged the students to make the most of the opportunity. Around, 100 students from various schools of the Zone are participating in the programme, which aims to nurture young talent and promote chess at the grassroots level. The training programme is expected to provide a strong foundation for budding players and ignite greater interest in the game among school children in Campbell Bay.
