Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 19: The State Control Room has issued a weather advisory based on inputs from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, warning of adverse weather conditions over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and adjoining seas.
According to the IMD, on August 19, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speed of 30–40 kmph are likely at one or two places over the islands.
From August 20 to 25, strong surface winds with speed reaching 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected over the Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
The State Control Room has urged local authorities to remain alert and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of fishermen and coastal residents.
