Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 07: A one-day workshop on Flagship Schemes of the Government of India was successfully organized today at Chinmaya Mission, Sri Vijaya Puram, under the banner of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) in collaboration with Chinmaya Mission. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 60 youth from across the district.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among youth and local communities about major centrally sponsored flagship schemes of the Government of India. These schemes are vital to the socio-economic development of citizens, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. The program sought to empower youth as informed agents of change by bridging information and access gaps.
Dr. P.V.N. Sarma, Principal of Andaman Law College, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the significance of youth engagement in national development and encouraged participants to stay informed about government initiatives to become active contributors to Viksit Bharat @2047.
Swami Suddha Nand Saraswatiji, President of Chinmaya Mission, Sri Vijaya Puram, was present as the Guest of Honour. In his concluding remarks, he emphasized the importance of health, fitness, and a drug-free lifestyle. He made a heartfelt appeal to the youth to “Say No to Drugs” and take conscious steps towards physical and mental well-being.
Distinguished guests Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Associate Professor & HoD, Hindi Dept., JNRM and Dr. Satyendar Singh, NSS Officer, JNRM addressed the gathering on the critical role of youth in shaping Viksit Bharat @2047. Their talks focused on values, civic responsibility, and the need for skill development in the modern era.
Dr. Sunita Patil, Secretary, Andaman Mahila Mandal, also shared her words of encouragement and extended full support to the initiative.
An interactive session was conducted during the workshop where participants were divided into four groups. Each group deliberated on various themes such as Education & Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Digital India & Technology, Sustainable Development & Climate Action, Health & Well-being, Civic Engagement & Governance, Gender Equality, Cultural Integration, and Global Competitiveness.
The youth group leaders – Mr. Arghadeep Das (Group 1), Mr. Prasanjit Sarker (Group 2), Ms. S. Bhagya Laxmi (Group 3) and Ms. Sushmita (Group 4) – presented insightful views on how the islands can contribute to the national vision of a developed India by 2047.
Earlier, Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas, Joint Director, Mera Yuva Bharat, delivered the keynote address and warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He spoke on the need to empower youth with knowledge about government schemes and transform them into proactive change-makers.
The program was coordinated by Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas, MY Bharat, who also delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of the guests, partner organizations, and participants in making the workshop a success.
