Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 07: In continuation to the ongoing celebrations of 76th Vanmahotsav 2025, a valedictory program was organized on 31.07.2025 to highlight the activities undertaken during the month long programs which were organized by the Middle Andaman Forest Division, wherein various activities such as planting of ornamental/fruit bearing/Medicinal plant seedlings took place at different locations under this Division involving school students, general public, PRI’s various department/NGO’s in which over 25000 Nos. of seedlings were planted. Free distribution of seedlings to the general public were organized, Rallies and awareness programs were also held highlighting issues containing importance of tree planting, Human-animal conflict etc.
The Middle Andaman Division organized various competitions such as drawing, painting, elocution & quiz with the motto of sensitizing the school students on various issues like “Forest and Wildlife”, “Importance of trees in our life” and “How Forest is important in Andaman & Nicobar Islands”.
On this occasion Mr. Siva Shakthi. B, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman briefed the gathering highlighting the importance of the month-long Van Mahotsav celebration. He emphasized the need to take special attention to post-plantation care and highlighted the importance of forests and how to conserve them without depleting natural resources.
A short video on various programs organized during the month-long celebrations in the division was also screened. On this occasion the students of GSSS, Rangat under Rangat Tehsil presented programs highlighting the importance of forests in the life and the very urge to protect them for ensuring survival of mankind and ensuring sustainable development at the same time. Also in the program, all the winners of various competitions held during the month-long celebration were aptly awarded prizes.
Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by Mrs. R. Barkha, ACF (MA). Following this, all the special invites were felicitated by the Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman, Rangat and were presented with mementos on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Anil Saha, ACF (HQ).
