
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 07: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, today met with Mr. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, at the Parliament House in New Delhi. During the meeting, the MP highlighted the pendency of 49 road projects of urban area of Municipal Council worth ₹23.08 crore submitted by the UT Administration in April 2025 under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), which have been awaiting sanction from the Ministry.
Mr. Ray emphasized that due to the deplorable condition of these roads in the Municipal Urban areas have been facing severe inconvenience. He urged the Minister to intervene for immediate sanction of the proposals to facilitate urgent repairs, upgradation, and renovation.
Responding positively to the concerns raised, Mr. Gadkari promptly reviewed the matter and granted in-principle approval on the spot. He also instructed officials of the Ministry to take immediate on ward action.
The MP expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Gadkari for his swift and decisive response. The sanctioned proposal, as per the MP’s recommendation of work of approximately 1 km in each of the 24 wards of the Municipal area marking a significant step toward improving urban infrastructure in the Municipal area.
