Mayabunder, July 30: In a renewed effort to improve public transport connectivity for residents and government employees in Mayabunder, former Pramukh Mr. Abdul Siddique met Mr. K. Binoy, Deputy Director of Transport, A&N Administration, in Port Blair on Monday. The purpose of the meeting was to submit a reminder and formal request for the introduction of a regular bus service from Mayabunder to the DC Office in Lucknow, via Dr. R.P. Hospital.
According to Mr. Siddique, this matter was initially discussed with Mr. Binoy during the officer’s visit to Mayabunder on 9th March 2025. Reiterating the urgency of the issue, Mr. Siddique emphasized that the proposed bus route would provide a much-needed, reliable, and affordable mode of transportation for government employees and residents of Mayabunder and nearby areas.
Mr. K. Binoy, in response, reportedly acknowledged the significance of the request and assured that the regular bus service would be introduced shortly — likely before or by 15th August 2025.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Siddique told Andaman Sheekha Daily, “I have strongly urged that the bus service should be introduced without any time-bound limitations. It is aimed solely at benefiting the public, especially those dependent on public transport to reach vital administrative and health institutions.”
The proposed route is expected to improve daily accessibility to the DC Office and Dr. R.P. Hospital, two essential destinations for both administrative and medical needs in the region.
