Sri Vijayapuram, July 06: Hindu Rashtra Shakti has issued a strong appeal to the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to immediately address the critical parking crisis at GB Pant Hospital, one of the Union Territory’s key medical facilities.
In a formal communication to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Angshuman Roy, State Youth President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, highlighted the dire situation faced by patients, attendants, and hospital staff due to the hospital’s severely inadequate parking space.
Vehicles overflow onto adjoining roads, including Cellular Jail Road, obstructing ambulance access and endangering emergency medical services. Patients and their families endure immense hardship, forced to park at distant locations like Netaji Stadium or coastal areas and commute back via auto-rickshaws, adding physical strain and financial burden during already stressful times. Furthermore, hospital staff face significant delays entering the campus during peak morning hours, directly impacting healthcare delivery, said Mr. Roy.
The congestion is also affecting the hospital’s operations, with staff struggling to reach on time during peak hours. To mitigate the crisis, Hindu Rashtra Shakti has formally proposed the construction of a multi-level parking structure—of at least three stories—on the existing hospital parking site.
The proposal outlines three key actions for the Administration:
• Immediate feasibility assessment of the multi-level parking project.
• Allocation of funds in the upcoming infrastructure budget cycle.
• Formation of a joint oversight committee including hospital authorities, PWD officials, and traffic police to ensure timely and transparent execution.
“This is not just a matter of convenience—it is about ensuring uninterrupted emergency care, relieving public distress, and upholding the dignity of our citizens,” Mr. Roy emphasized.
Hindu Rashtra Shakti has called upon the Administration to prioritize this issue and take swift action in the interest of public safety and healthcare efficiency.
