
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 22: Before commencement of National Lok Adalat, the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee organised the “YOGA DAY 2025” were the invitees included Shri Ashlish Goon, Assistant Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Smti Swetha K Sugathan, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman, Shri Ravi Sharma, SDO BSNL. It was organized at Mayabunder wherein the participants included Shri Subhajit Basu, ADJ, North & Middle Andaman and Shri Tarun Kumar Mondal, CJM, North & Middle Andaman, staff Members, Police Personal & locals of Mayabunder. Various Yoga exercises were performed and the participants were encouraged to do Yoga on regular basis. The programme ended successfully.
After completion of “YOGA Day 2025”, The Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, North & Middle Andaman at Mayabunder, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, held the National Lok Adalat on 21.06.2025 in the District Court Complex at Mayabunder.
The Bench at Mayabunder was presided over by Shri Subhajit Basu, the Additional District & Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman -cum- Chairman, Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Mayabunder as Chairman alongwith learned Advocate Banani Biswas and Social Worker Shri Abdul Siddique as Members wherein 109 number of pre-litigation cases relating to the defaulters of BSNL and Bank Recovery cases and 143 number of criminal cases involving petty offences were placed for disposal. The Bench at Mayabunder disposed 24 pre-litigation cases of BSNL & Banck Recovery of Cases thereby leading to a cash collection of Rs. 58,000/- out of the long penging claim of Rs. 28,94,683/- giving relief for an amount of Rs. 8,40,980/- to the litigants.
Further more 92 criminal compoundable cases were settled leading to a cash collection of Rs. 2,16,550/- in the form of fine.
There was a great enthusiasm amongst the defaulters and litigants and the active cooperation from all the stake holders of Mayabunder made the National Lok Adalat at North & Middle Andaman District a grand success.
