Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 16: Based on credible inputs received from a reliable source, Beat Officer, New Bimblitan Beat Mr. Shyam Sunder Rao, Forester along with two Beat Mazdoors on 16/06/2025 detected 1 No. PVC Cask containing 40 Litres of Lehan (fermented base for preparation of country liquor) at New Bimblitan Reserve Forest area. The fermented illicit liquor “Lehan” was destroyed on the spot and barrel used for its production was Seized U/s 52(1) of IFA 1927. The discovery of this item in a reserve forest area suggests potential violation of provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927. Consequently, a thorough search of the surroundings forest areas was immediately conducted to locate any individuals, however, no suspects were found. An Unknown case has been registered in accordance with applicable laws.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Forest Range Officer, Garacharma Range with active guidance by the Assistant Conservator of Forests (South Andaman Forest Division). General Public are requested to play an active role in combating the illegal offences inside Reserved Forest areas/Protected areas and reporting any instances of Forest or Wildlife related crimes to the South Andaman Forest Division at helpline number 03192-255228.
