Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 16: As part of the ongoing observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an awareness programme at Delanipur Sanitary Office under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Port Blair Municipal Council, Anti-Narcotic-CID, and Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA). People present at the programme were the Senior Sanitary Inspector, Sanitary Inspectors of Ward Nos. 3, 7, and 8, Organizers from SVPMC, and Safai Mitras. The event aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, highlight the importance of early intervention and rehabilitation, and encourage active community participation in building a drug-free society.
A major highlight of the programme was a street play and a self-composed poem performed by the Swachta Awareness Team, both creatively addressing the issues of addiction and promoting cleanliness and sobriety. This initiative is one among a series of activities being held across the UT under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to engage citizens and stakeholders in the national movement against drug abuse.
