Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 01: The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, A & N Administration, in association with Calisthenics Trainer Mr.YouDay (Mr. Uday Shankar Das), successfully organized a thrilling Arm Wrestling Tournament this evening at Marina Park, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event, aimed at promoting strength-based sports and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the youth, received an overwhelming response from the public.
The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Mohd Irshad Ahmed, Assistant Director (PE/Sports), Department of Education who graced the occasion as the chief guest of the opening ceremony. In his address, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and active participation in sports.
Around 100 fitness enthusiasts from across the islands participated in the tournament, which featured competitions in four weight categories. The winners are as follows:
• 45–55 kg category: Suresh Biswas
• 55–65 kg category: Standly
• 65–75 kg category: Sant Lall
• 75–85 kg category: Bibhuti Biswas
• 95 kg and above category: Prasanth Singh
The highlight of the event was the Overall Champion Trophy, which was clinched by Bibhuti Biswas from the 75–85 kg category, earning him top honours for his outstanding performance.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Shiv Shankar Singh as the chief guest, with Mrs. Archana Singh, Deputy Director of Education (Planning), as the guest of honour. Both dignitaries felicitated the winners with trophies, medals, and certificates of merit, celebrating their dedication and achievements.
