Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 19: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has raised serious concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the road stretch between Junglighat School and Burning Ghat via Ayush Hospital in Junglighat. In a communication addressed to the Secretary (PWD) and the Chief Engineer, APWD, the Member of Parliament has urged for immediate repair and renovation of the road, citing the hardships faced by daily commuters.
He stated in his letter that the road serves as a dangerous route, particularly for patients visiting the Ayush Hospital and for transporting deceased persons. Due to its worsening condition, residents have reported frequent accidents and immense difficulties in commuting. Despite its importance, no action has been initiated by the concerned department to inspect or repair the stretch.
Under these situations, the Member of Parliament called upon the APWD to treat this matter as a top priority and undertake immediate restoration work without any further delay in lieu of any other un-urgent work, if the road is not included in the Annual Plan. He further pointed out that the absence of proper drainage facilities from the market area to Burning Ghat, leading to severe waterlogging during the rainy season, causing further damage to the road infrastructure. Therefore he urged to ensure that necessary drainage provisions are made along with the road repairs to prevent future deterioration.
