Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 28: Mr. Naresh Chander Lal, Padma Shri Awardee, Indian film Director & Producer graced the event as Chief Guest. He is a known graduate from National School of Drama. He appreciated ANACS for organizing such an event where so many teams participated. He also guided the students on the technical aspects required to present a drama.
The competition was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS. In his keynote address he informed that the objective of the drama competition was to make the youth aware about HIV & AIDS in a friendly environment. Youth needs to realize their power to stop HIV transmission, learn about safe sexual practices and stand against stigma and discrimination associated with HIV. More than winning the competition, through this programme, youth will not just understand about HIV and its related issues, but will present things in a more creative way making it simple to understand.
Daniel Solma and group from TGCE won the 1st position, K. Manju Teja and group from ANIIMS won 2nd position and the 3rd position is shared between Abitha and group from ANM School and Saurav Das & group from Govt. Polytechnic, Diglipur.
The teams were from Andaman College, (ANCOL), Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) School, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Dr. S. Radhakrishnan District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Garacharama, Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Dollygunj, School of Nursing, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGCC), Mayabunder and Govt. Polytechnic, Diglipur, N&M Andaman participated in the competition.
The theme for the performance were, available service for HIV prevention in islands; HIV & AIDS Prevention & Control) Act, 2017; Promotion of Helpline 1097; Elimination of Transmission of HIV & Syphilis from mother to child; and Arise, Awake, and Realize the Power of Youth in the fight against HIV.
