Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 19: As part of SNIC-2025, NCC cadets explored the natural and cultural richness of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Days 04 and 05.
Day 4 began with visits to Marina Park, Corbyn’s Cove Beach, and Flag Point. In the afternoon, the cadets explored the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park at Wandoor, learning about the region’s vibrant marine ecosystems. The day concluded with a tour of the Botanical Garden at Naya Sahar, where botanists shared insights into the unique flora of the islands.
Day 5 featured a trek to Mount Manipur, the third-highest peak in the archipelago at 1,257 feet. Col T. Hari Teja and Col Pankaj Modgil joined the cadets as they were guided by forest authorities, observing the diversity of local flora and fauna. The breathtaking view from the summit left them in awe of the islands’ natural beauty. The visits fostered a deeper appreciation for the Andaman’s rich ecological and cultural heritage.
