I am delighted to learn that Andaman and Nicobar Islands is observing “Animal Welfare Fortnight 2025” along with rest of country from January 14 to 30th January, 2025. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of treating all animals with kindness, respect and compassion.
Throughout history, animals have made immeasurable contributions to human well-being. As human beings, it is our responsibility to ensure that we do not exploit or mistreat them for personal gain. In today’s world, it is more crucial than ever that we strive to live harmoniously with animals, fulfilling our moral duty to treat them with care and empathy. Awareness campaigns and educational efforts play a key role in promoting the prevention of cruelty to animals.
The core mission of this initiative is to foster respect, kindness and compassion for all animals.
As Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, once said, “the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” For centuries, the principle of Ahimsa has guided our actions and set an example of animal welfare. During this Animal Welfare Fortnight, let us unite in our efforts to create a kinder and more compassionate world.
On this occasion, I extend my best wishes for the success of “Animal Welfare Fortnight 2025” celebrations.
