Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 15: The Block Development Office Ferrargunj, under the guidance of the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, the A&N Administration, organized a Block Level Training on ‘Promoting Child Participation in the Decision-Making Process of Gram Sabha’. The program, held under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), aimed to empower children by providing them with a platform to actively contribute to grassroots governance.
The training focused on the importance of integrating children’s voices into local decision-making processes to ensure inclusivity and equitable representation. Participants were provided with strategies and insights to promote child participation during Gram Sabha discussions, fostering democratic values at the community level.
Shri Anand Amritraj, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad spoke about the significant role Gram Panchayats can play in nurturing child participation. He encouraged local leaders to actively engage with children during Gram Sabha discussions and empower them as stakeholders in community development. Ms. C. Vijaya, a domain expert from the Department of Rural Development and Shri Tapas Sarnakar, Office Superintendent, Social Welfare Department spoke on the occasion.
