Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 05: The Andaman & Nicobar Rowing Association, led by its President Mr. G. Bhasker, congratulated Ms. Sneha Toppo, Ms. P. Alagammal, and the entire rowing team for their stellar performance at the 44th Junior National Rowing Championship. The duo’s outstanding efforts in the JW2-2000 metre event earned them a Silver Medal, bringing pride and honor to the Islands.
Held in Pune, Maharashtra, from December 1 to December 6, the prestigious championship saw tough competition from across the country. In the JW2-2000 metre category, Team Madhya Pradesh secured the Gold Medal, while Team Haryana clinched the Bronze. Despite the stiff competition, the Andaman & Nicobar duo showcased remarkable skill and determination to emerge victorious in their event.
The nine-member team from the Islands demonstrated exceptional potential throughout the championship, with their success attributed to rigorous training under the guidance of Arjuna Awardee Coach Jenil Krishnan and Coach Jestin J. Thomas.
The commendable achievement reflects the commitment of the athletes and their mentors, elevating the profile of sports in the Islands. The entire rowing fraternity of A&N Islands celebrates this success as a testament to the growing talent and dedication of its young athletes.
