Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 28: A training programme was organized by the Department of Fisheries, A & N Administration in the conference hall of District Office, N&MA under national rollout of vessel communication and support system projects of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India. The objective of the training was to impart training to Master Trainers on Application and Maintenance of Transponders.
The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS addressed the Master Trainer / Fishermen for their participation in the one day training programme and spoke about the significance of transponders to safeguard life of fishermen at Sea. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Tejas Networks and Zonal Fisheries Office for organizing the programme.
The Senior Manager, Tejas Networks, Shri Shrikant Rao conducted the Training Programme. During the session, he explained the importance of transponders and benefits to various stakeholders i.e. Department of Fisheries, Fishermen, Boat Owners, Maritime Agencies. During emergencies the fishermen can send SOS for medical assistance, fire accident, engine malfunction, man overboard, etc. to the shore. At the same time, the agencies on the shore can broadcast weather alert like cyclone, heavy rain, high tide, etc. to the fishermen in high sea with the advisories to immediately move to safe place. The important features of the transponders are two – way communication, SOS, PFZ data, weather alerts, etc. A small video on installation of transponders was also shown to the participants.
The entire programme was coordinated by Shri Tapan Kr. Biswas, Asst. Director of Fisheries, N&M Andaman District. The Asst. Director of Fisheries has expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman for motivating the participants.
