Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 27: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the NSS wing of Raajkiya Jawaharlal Nehru Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), observed Constitution Day with a series of impactful activities. The program was also supported by Andaman Mahila Mandal and Maharashtra Mandal, Sri Vijaya Puram.
On this occasion, a Padyatra was organized to raise awareness among youth about the significance of the Indian Constitution in shaping their development and participation in nation-building. The Padyatra commenced at the historic Cellular Jail and concluded at the Statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, SVPMC, with about 150 enthusiastic youth participating in “Mera Bharat” T-shirts and caps.
Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He flagged off the Padyatra and addressed the youth on the objectives of the program, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Constitution in uniting and empowering the nation.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mrs. Pramila Kumari, President of Andaman Mahila Mandal, and Mr. Gorakhnath Patil, President of Maharashtra Mandal, who welcomed the Chief Guest with a shawl and bouquet. Mrs. Pramila Kumari administered the Pledge of the Indian Preamble and addressed the youth on the importance of Constitution Day.
Mr. Dr. Satyaprakesh, NSS Program Officer and Associate Professor of Geography, JNRM highlighted the historical and educational significance of the day. SAI officials, including Mr. Mohammed Sadique (Football Coach), Mrs. Srimati Bishnoi (Kayaking & Canoeing Coach), and Mr. Manish Kumar Tiwary (Rowing Coach), were also present and added grace to the occasion.
Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas, Program In-Charge of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, warmly welcomed the guests and elaborated on the aims and objectives of the program. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, for his valuable presence and motivational address to the youth. He also extended heartfelt thanks to all supporting organizations, including SVPMC, the Transport Department, Andaman Mahila Mandal, Maharashtra Mandal, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Raajkiya Jawaharlal Nehru Mahavidyalaya and all volunteers of NYKS for their invaluable contributions to the success of the program. Special appreciation was conveyed to all electronic and print media for their dedicated coverage and unwavering support, which played a significant role in highlighting the importance of the event.
Dr. Sunita Patil, Secretary of Andaman Mahila Mandal, coordinated the event, ensuring its success and smooth execution.
The program served as a reminder to the youth to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and contribute actively to the nation-building process.
