Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 12: Mr. Abdul Sajid, Vice President of Dhairya NGO, has written a letter to the Directorate of Shipping Services on behalf of the regular passengers commuting on the ferry route between Chatham and Bambooflat.
In his letter, he requested the introduction of quarterly and half-yearly pass options. Currently, commuters rely on monthly passes, which require frequent renewals—a challenge for many due to busy work schedules. Mr. Sajid’s proposal aims to ease the renewal process, providing added convenience to regular passengers.
In addition to requesting flexible pass options, Mr. Sajid also emphasized the need for more vehicle and passenger ferries on this route. With the area’s growing population and expanding settlements, congestion on ferries has increased significantly. He highlighted that the addition of more ferries would help reduce overcrowding and improve the daily commuting experience.
The letter acknowledged the Directorate of Shipping Services for maintaining well-managed ferry services and responding to past feedback. Passengers and community members are hopeful for continued improvements to ensure reliable and convenient transportation for all.
A copy of the letter was also sent to the Secretary of the Directorate of Shipping Services in Sri Vijayapuram to reinforce the importance of these requests for the local community.
