Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 06: A Block-Level Training Program focused on addressing child needs through ‘Bal Sabhas’ was held at Community Managed Training Center (CMTC), Ferrargunj. Organized by the BDO Office, Ferrargunj, this program aimed to equip local stakeholders with the skills to address children’s needs through Bal Sabha platforms.
The training program saw active participation from the Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Ferrargunj, Smti D. Padmawathi, Gram Pradhans, Panchayat Secretaries. PRI Members, Child Protection Functionaries, children from Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School Ferrargunj.
Earlier, welcoming the participants, Smt. Lalita Tigga, BDO, Ferrargunj, discussed the importance of community involvement in child welfare while Ms C. Vijaya, Domain Expert from the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, shared valuable insights on the role of Bal Sabhas in schools, emphasizing how these forums can effectively identify and address children’s developmental needs. Later, Ms Suman Shailaja Barla, Protection Officer (NIC), DCPU, South Andaman, spoke on addressing children’s needs through the Bal Sabha model, sharing her expertise on child protection practices and community engagement.
Ms Kiran Bhagwat, Social Worker, addressed the impact of social media on children, shedding light on the challenges and influences that social media can have on young minds, and suggesting ways for community members to support healthy social media use among children. Ms Agnes Bartholoma, Sub Inspector, PS Ograbraj discussed the legal aspects of child protection and the role of law enforcement in safeguarding children’s rights.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Anand Amritraj, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad, encouraged children to actively participate in sports, emphasizing the role of physical activities in fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall development.
Attendees expressed gratitude for the insights shared by the speakers and they look forward to implementing the knowledge gained to benefit children in their local communities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, underscoring the commitment to continued efforts in child welfare through similar training programs in the future.
