Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 22: The Chairman of ANTCC Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker has taken up the pressing issue of persistent unavailability and shortage of LPG cylinders in Great Nicobar Islands that has been affecting the residents of the Island for several years.
In a letter addressed to the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, A&N Administration, Mr. Bhasker stated that the shortage of LPG cylinders has caused immense suffering among the Islanders.
He added that the lives of many families and their daily routines have been disrupted as they are struggling to prepare meals for households. Even the elderly people and children are affected hugely, as they rely on proper nutrition for their well-being.
He further added that earlier the people of Great Nicobar were somehow managing this crisis with the usage of Kerosene as an alternative fuel source. However, the cessation of Kerosene supply has left the Islanders with no accessible means of cooking.
“It is heartbreaking to witness our Islanders endure these hardships when access to a basic necessity like cooking gas is at stake”, said Mr. Bhasker.
Concluding the letter, Mr. Bhasker urged the Director to take immediate action to address this critical situation and increase the supply of LPG cylinders by ensuring regular deliveries and improving communication with the community regarding availability.
