Port Blair, Aug 19:To undertake the responsibilities entrusted to the Road Safety Cell, Directorate of Transport is organizing a full day Road Safety Awareness Camp at Community Hall, Wimberlygunj on Aug. 22 from 9 am onwards. It will also include all the services scheduled by the Transport Department at the door steps of the general public which can be availed by the local residents of the adjacent areas as well as the residents of the nearby Panchayats viz. Shorepoint, Bambooflat – I, Bambooflat – II, Wimberlygunj, Kanyapuram, Stewartgunj, Hope Town, Brindaban, Mannarghat & Shoal Bay.
Beneficiaries from the proposed camp are expected to be the commercial vehicle owners (like Autorickshaws, Goods Vehicles, Contract Carriages), personal vehicle owners, villagers of Guptapara/Manglutan & surrounding nearby villages/Panchayats, school students, aspiring drivers etc. All the related Panchayats have been given prior intimation for wider publicity in their jurisdiction.
The following services will be extended to the general public during the camp apart from road safety awareness:
• Conduct of Learners License Test
(On the spot Learners License
will be issued) Medical Examination for appearing in the Learners License Test will be done with the support of Health Department on the spot.
• Collection of Road Tax.
• Driving License Renewal.
• Duplicate Driving License.
• Change of Address in DL.
• Change of Photo in DL.
• Hypothecation termination from RC.
• Renewal of Registration.
• NOC to Transfer of Vehicles.
• Collection of Fees for Vehicle
Fitness renewal.
• • Alteration of Vehicle
• Application for issue of New Permit for Commercial Vehicles.
• Application for Renewal of existing permits for Commercial Vehicles.
• Application for Conversion of Vehicles.
• Mobile number update in RC and DL
• Fitness Test of vehicles (less than 15 years old.)
• Re-apply after fitness being failed.
• Issue of ATR Bus Tickets & Bus Passes.
• Public grievances redressal and attending the queries of public on the various procedures for obtaining driving license and registration of vehicles
In addition to this, an inter school quiz competition on road safety amongst the participants of local schools students of Classes IX – XII (Both Govt. & Private Schools) and drawing/painting competition for local school students of different age groups is also planned to be organized on the scheduled date & venue. Winners of each competition will be honoured with cash prizes during the concluding session of the camp.
