
Port Blair, Jul 21: On Saturday (20 July), the National Cadet Corps (NCC) conducted a solemn wreath laying ceremony at the memorial of Captain Ashim Bhattacharjee, who hailed from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and an Ex NCC Cadet. Capt Bhattacharjee valiantly laid down his life while combating militants in Jammu & Kashmir (Uri sector) on 20th July 2000.
The ceremony served as a poignant tribute to his courage, sacrifice, and exemplary service to the nation. The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence in remembrance of Capt Ashim Bhattacharjee’s ultimate sacrifice. Wreaths were laid at the memorial site, symbolizing gratitude for his bravery and dedication. The event underscored the NCC’s commitment to honoring its fallen heroes and preserving their legacies. Col Arindam Majumdar, Group Commander, Group HQ Chennai ‘A’, Col Pankaj Modgil, Lt Cdr Reyaz Farooq Commanding Officers of Army and Naval NCC along with staffs and cadets of NCC attended the ceremony.
