Port Blair, May 09: State Child Protection Society (SCPS) under the Directorate of Social Welfare recently organized a comprehensive Awareness programme focusing on Health and Hygiene, specifically addressing the critical issue of Dehydration at Balika Niketan and Seva Niketan. The event was started by Mrs. Rehaneth Begum, Program Manager, SCPS, who emphasized the importance of Health and Hygiene, particularly in the summer months, and provided valuable insights on staying safe and hydrated.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), who spearheaded an initiative to enhance knowledge about health and hygiene at Child Care Institutions (CCI) homes. He highlighted the importance of time management in maintaining good health practices and encouraged attendees to prioritize self-care amidst their daily routines.
As part of the Programme, attendees were treated to essential tips by Program Manager, SCPS on preventing dehydration:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially during hot weather.
Monitor Electrolytes: Consume foods and drinks with electrolytes to replenish lost salts.
Avoid Sugary Drinks: Opt for water or natural juices instead of sugary beverages to stay hydrated.
Dress Appropriately: Wear light and breathable clothing to prevent overheating.
Seek Shade: Stay in shaded areas to protect yourself from direct sunlight.
Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to signs of dehydration, such as dizziness or excessive thirst, and take immediate action.
