Port Blair, May 06: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign).
41st Awareness Cum Fitness Program started with enthusiasm at Joggers Park on May 5th, 2024 (Sunday), from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM, extending a warm invitation to locals for an invigorating morning routine. Guided by Shihan M.S Murgan, an expert in physical fitness and mental health. Notably known as an internationally recognized laughter and yoga ambassador, and possessing a rich background as an Ex. Sub Inspector of A&N Police (IRBN). He also emphasized the significance of incorporating regular exercise into daily routines and highlighted its positive impact on overall well-being. Additionally, certified Yoga instructors and Doctors from the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman led yoga classes, emphasizing the holistic benefits of yoga and meditation in staying away from drugs.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), shared profound insights during the event, highlighting the initiative’s role in building a healthy and drug-free society. He also emphasized the transformative power of exercise and meditation in steering individuals away from drugs, promoting physical and mental well-being.
Dr. M.K Mahato, Doctor (IRCA), South Andaman, highlighted the beneficial benefits of yoga and meditation in combating drug addiction. He stressed the availability of the 112 Helpline number (24*7) for counseling individuals struggling with drug addiction, providing guidance on overcoming addiction and reclaiming one’s life.
The Directorate of Social Welfare extends an open invitation to all interested individuals to join the transformative “Hasgulla Club” program.
