The World Veterinary Day 2024 is being celebrated on 27th April, 2024 in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands along with the rest of the World as a day to honor the invaluable contributions of veterinarians to the health of people, animals, and the environment.
This year’s theme, “Veterinarians are essential health workers”, emphasizes the pivotal role veterinarians play in advancing overall health. Their expertise extends beyond animal care, impacting the physical, mental and social well-being of both animals and humans.
Veterinarians undertake a challenging task, caring for sick or injured animals. Despite facing overwhelming demand, veterinarians are essential for upholding public health and community welfare. Their extensive medical training equips them to ensure food safety, prevent disease transmission, and elevate health standards in society. Veterinarians work collaboratively with multiple disciplines and stakeholders to protect and advance the health and well-being of animals, humans and ecosystems (One health) at the local, national, regional, and international levels.
This day serves as an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate their hard work in aiding both animals and people. Let us pause to recognize and honor the invaluable contribution of veterinarians in safeguarding and enhancing the health of both people and animals.
My heartfelt best wishes for the celebration of World Veterinary Day 2024.
