Diglipur, Apr 23: Residents of Diglipur, especially Sitapur Village are currently facing significant challenges due to prolonged power outages, despite the presence of a power house that supplies electricity to every household.
The protest, which began on December 7, 2023, was initially sparked by attempts to shift a generator set from Diglipur to Swaraj Dweep. However, despite assurances from the administration to reinstall the power generator by the first week of February, the situation remains unchanged. For nearly two months, the village has been experiencing frequent power cuts, leading to growing frustration among residents.
Recent incidents have only exacerbated the situation. Despite repeated complaints, the local power authority has failed to address issues promptly. Residents have recounted instances where phone calls to report outages went unanswered, leaving them without electricity for hours.
The lack of accountability from the authorities has further fueled residents’ frustration. Despite regular payment of bills, they continue to face prolonged power cuts without any resolution of their grievances.
In response to these ongoing challenges, residents demand immediate action from the authorities to restore regular power supply and address the underlying issues causing the outages.
