Port Blair, Apr: In a relentless campaign against bootlegging and the illicit liquor trade, the Central Crime Station police have intensified their crackdown keeping in view the upcoming elections in A&N Islands. In this direction, a strategic Jungle search operation was conducted on 07/04/24 in the Caddlegunj, Ograbraj area.
The dedicated team from PS Central Crime Station, comprising HC/Baroi, PC/Srinivas, PC/Amose, and PC/Chandran under the supervision of SHO, PS CCS Inspr. Girish Kumar, meticulously executed the operation. Their search unearthed 14 concealed tins containing approximately 195 liters of fermented solution (Lehan), a vital ingredient in the production of illicit liquor. Swift action was taken to destroy the illicit substance, with thorough documentation through photography to prevent its misuse in preparation of illicit liquor.
Further strengthening their enforcement efforts, multiple raids were conducted on 06/04/24, resulting in the apprehension of two bootleggers namely K. Mani, R/o Bhatubasti and Shyamal Rao, R/o Calicut near Pump House and confiscated 40 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during these operations.
The ongoing initiative, led by the Central Crime Station police, emphasizes their firm dedication to maintaining law and order by combating illicit activities. It’s crucial for the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious or unlawful activities to the local police. The identities of informants will be strictly protected, ensuring their safety.
