Port Blair, Mar 10: The District Office South Andaman organised a mass cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Mission in the District Office Complex today. It was a shining example of the success of the mass movement launched by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to realise Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and prosperous India. The cleanliness drive was led by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS. The Cleanliness drive reflected the sense of responsibility of every individual towards keeping their office premises spik and span.
Displaying their commitment towards cleanliness, the officers and staff of District Office, SDM/ADM Office, AC, Settlement Office, Tehsildar Office with the support of PBMC enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drive through Shramdan. During the drive, waste materials, trash and garbage were collected from Office premises and its surroundings.
The Officers, Staff and others enthusiastically shouldered the responsibility of cleaning their Office premises and surroundings. One room was totally cleaned and vacated for Election purposes. The outdated Office materials were segregated for condemnation while wastes and garbage collected in gunny bags were handed over to PBMC for its safe disposal. The initiative not only cleaned the entire DC Office Complex but was successful in fostering a sense of unity and responsibility among all the staff towards maintaining hygiene.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials present on the occasion to take up the beautification of the Canteen area to provide a good ambience for the benefit of the people visiting Canteen of District Office.
