Port Blair, Mar 06: In a momentous event, the Dr. S.R. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma, celebrated the inauguration of its Art & Craft Resource Centre and Performing Arts Resource Centre on 6th March, 2024. The ceremonial garlanding on the bust of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan set a respectful tone, followed by the inauguration and visit of the Art & Craft Resource Centre and Performing Arts Resource Centre, emphasizing the Institute’s commitment for providing a holistic educational environment. A symbolic plantation of saplings by the Chief Guest highlighted the Institution’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
The Trainees of DIET welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha, Director (Education) and the Guest of Honor Mr. R. K. Singh, SPO (Samagra Shiksha) in the presence of Mr. M. Nehru, Principal, DIET and all others present. The Principal delivered a gracious welcome address.
The lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries symbolized the enlightenment that education brings, followed by a captivating video presentation showcasing the Institute’s achievement and vision. Further, a self-composed poem was presented by a trainee, demonstrating the creativity and literary talents nurtured at DIET.
A moment of recognition came with the prize distribution acknowledging outstanding contributions of the trainees.
The release of Shaikshik Yatra – 2024, the Institute’s yearly magazine marked a significant literary milestone. The festivities continued with a dance performance and a group song centered on the National Education Policy (NEP), emphasizing the Institute’s alignment with contemporary educational frameworks. The Guest of Honor addressed the audience, providing insights into the Institute’s role in shaping the educational landscape.
The Chief Guest in his address stressed on the importance of quality education in shaping the future. The ceremony exemplified Dr. S. Radhakrishnan DIET’s commitment to holistic and cultural enrichment. The program concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Mr. Govind Raju, Samagra Shiksha In-charge.
