Port Blair, Mar 04: 13th RAMC meeting of Botanical Survey of India, MoEF & CC, Govt. of India, was conducted at BSI, Port Blair in the gracious presence of Ms. Nameeta Prasad, IAS, Joint Secretary, MoEF&CC, Govt. of India from 29th February 2024 to 1st March 2024. The meeting was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) C. R. Babu, CEMDE, Delhi University and over 20 eminent botanists from various institutes of the Country participated. Dr. A. A. Mao, Director, BSI, Kolkata, delivered a talk on the achievements made by BSI and the target vision to be achieved by 2047. The programme was initiated with the welcome address delivered by Regional Head Dr. Lal Singh. Dr. Singh briefed about the unique plant diversity of the Islands and their conservation status and achievement of regional centers. All members planted endemic palm species Bentinckia nicobarica distributed in Nicobar Group of Islands.
