Port Blair, Feb 05: In a significant stride toward ensuring a drug-free society, the Directorate of Social Welfare unveils the “Hasgulla Club,” a pivotal arm of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). The club marked its milestone with the 20th Awareness Cum Fitness Program held at Joggers Park this past Sunday, welcoming dawn with vibrancy and vigor between 6:00 and 7:30 AM.
This innovative session drew in 45 local participants including Children and staff of Darusalam Yathem Khana (CCI Home), each committing to the cause of a healthier, substance-free lifestyle. Leading the charge was Shihan M.S. Murgan, a respected Ex. Sub Inspector of the A&N Police (IRBN). Not only is he acclaimed for his expertise in physical training, but he is also a celebrated advocate for laughter and yoga, practices he seamlessly merged to create an uplifting and motivational atmosphere. His discourse extended beyond physical wellness, addressing the dark grip drugs hold on individuals and society at large, bringing to light the harrowing consequences of substance abuse.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Nitin Shakya, the Director (Social Welfare), who not only participated in the yoga session but also addressed the crowd. He also highlighted the importance of regular exercise and the role of a balanced diet in combating drug addiction and promoting overall well-being.
Continuing this healthful and groundbreaking initiative, The Department announces that the Drug Awareness cum Fitness program will be an enduring Sunday event at Joggers Park.
