
Port Blair, Dec 29: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder expresses grave concern over the dilapidated state of the Broken Iron Bridge in Kimoius River at Car Nicobar District, and urgently calls for the attention of th0 Lieutenant Governor.
In a letter addressed, Mr. Halder said that The Iron Bridge which has been established post-Tsunami, has remained non-functional for the past five years and due to a lack of essential repairs and maintenance, the dire state of the bridge has led to severe consequences for the approximately 2000 residents living in the villages of Arong, Sawai and Titok who depend on it for their daily commute.
He stated that the Residents are compelled to cover a significant distance due to the bridge’s unusable condition, affecting their daily lives and economic activities.
Mr. Halder emphasizes the pressing need for the construction of a new RCC Bridge in the Kimoius River to ensure the safety and well-being of the tribal community members who heavily rely on this essential link.
He further urges the Lieutenant Governor to prioritize the immediate construction of a new bridge. to alleviate the suffering of the affected residents, prevent potential accidents, and mitigate the economic impact on the region.
