‘Port Blair, Nov 03: The Govt. of India is committed to ensure that benefits of flagship schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries in a time bound manner. With this aim, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve saturation of schemes named ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ was launched. Dr. N K Vajpai, MO, PHC, Shaheed Dweep was the chief guest while Mr. P R Pradeep, SHO and Mrs. Sulekha, JE, APWD were the guests of honor. The programme was held at the Community Hall under Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra. The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra along with PRI members, Villagers and Panchayat Secretary welcomed the gathering.
Mrs. Pinky Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra, briefed the gathering about the Central Government’s welfare schemes and policies and the need for its effective implementation among beneficiaries. She administered the ‘Sankalp Pledge’ to the gathering.
In the program, various Departments such as Health Department, Fisheries Department, Social Welfare Department (ICDS), Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Civil Supply Department, District Administration Revenue Department participated and set up stalls to create awareness about their schemes among the rural public. Registration of villagers was done under various schemes and nearly 190 villagers got registered during the program. Beneficiaries of all Departments shared their stories under ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ to motivate the other villagers to avail benefit under the schemes. Cultural programmes were organized by the students of Govt. Sr. Secondary School Shaheed Dweep. The School students performed a musical skit under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The successful beneficiaries of various Departments were felicitated by the dignitaries.
While addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Dr. NK Vajpai, MO, PHC, Shaheed Dweep, explained the importance of the yatra as an effective mode to reach out to the general public and make them aware about various Welfare Schemes of the Central Government, so that its benefits could be availed by all unreached persons. They also distributed Property Cards to the Beneficiaries of the SWAMITVA scheme. The other dignitaries distributed the Best Farmer Award to the beneficiaries of the Agriculture Department.
