Port Blair, Nov 17: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member, BJP today met Admiral (Retd) Mr. D. K. Joshi – Lt. Governor A & N Islands at Raj Niwas and raised certain burning issues pertaining to people of these Islands. He demanded early redressal of these issues which are badly affecting the local populace.
In the meeting, the following issues were raised & discussed:-
1. Re-opening of all Quarries.
Mr. Jolly highlighted that as the quarries are not operational, the entire infrastructural development works are at a standstill. People are forced to buy stone aggregates at a much higher price. Those who have availed home loans from banks and financial institutions are forced to pay the installments of loan amount without the buildings getting built. He also pointed out that the daily rated labourers working in these quarries are without any employment for the past one and half years. People are going through immense hardships due to non-availability of quarry products and therefore he requested that the quarries may soon be made operational.
2. Relaxation of minimum marking for recruitment of 389 posts of Police Constables in A & N Police Department.
The recruitment process for filling up 389 posts of Police Constables was held but since not even 5% of the candidates could obtain the required marks, therefore the process could not be completed and the same is getting delayed. Mr. Jolly therefore demanded to reduce the minimum marks of 40 to a certain level in order to accommodate aspiring candidates and speedily fill up all the vacancies without any further delay.
3. Restarting of Conversation of land to House Site and Commercial.
Mr. Vishal Jolly reiterated his demand of resuming Conversion/Diversion of land to House Sites and Commercial. He urged that at least a minimum of 500 sq meters of land from each household should be allowed for diversion. General public as well as the entrepreneurs are facing economic blockade.
4. Taking up issues of National Highway-4 with the concerned Ministry for expediting the pending road work.
Mr. Jolly further took up the matter of the pathetic condition of NH-4 and urged the Lt. Governor to take up this issue with the concerned Ministry and coordinate with the officials for speeding up the ongoing process of completion of road work at the earliest.
