Port Blair, Nov 17: Another fire accident has been reported in Port Blair city today, adding to the recent series of incidents that have shaken Islanders. A few days back, two fire accidents on Diwali day had caused significant devastation.
However, today’s incident was somewhat less severe as the fire erupted in an abandoned quarter behind the Police Station Aberdeen. This particular quarter is part of a building of four quarters and has been unused for a considerable period.
The incident was reported at approximately 6:50 PM, prompting a swift response from the Fire Brigade team. They reached the location promptly and managed to contain the fire before it could spread beyond the abandoned quarter. Efforts are now underway to investigate the origin of the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding structures. Sources told Andaman Sheekha Daily that a lot of liquor bottles have been found inside the quarter, from where the fire originated hinting misuse of the said quarter by anti-social elements.
