Port Blair, Jan 28: A boat carrying 107 Myanmarese personnel including Six ladies and twenty-two children were detected by CG aircraft on patrol and rescued off Spike Island in adverse sea conditions by an Indian Naval Ship at 1700hrs on 26 Jan 13. The boat carrying these personnel was observed to be drifting at sea after losing propulsion. The personnel onboard were provided assistance including food and water by the Naval Ship which subsequently brought the boat under tow to Port Blair.
The defective engine of the boat was also repaired by the ship’s crew, in trying circumstances due to adverse weather.
This effort, amply demonstrated the resolve of the Andaman and Nicobar Command to maintain continuous all round surveillance and respond immediately to any situation including humanitarian crisis in the Area of Responsibility with promptness and professionalism.
