Port Blair, Jan 20: Four years old, Bibek Talukdar, doesn’t actually understand what is happening with him or around him but life is very difficult for the little boy. The little Angel is suffering from Cyanotic Heart Disease (hole in the heart), an ailment, which has devastated his entire family.
The Cardiac Ailment has now started taking the toll on the health of Master Bibek, who is unable to utter even a single word from his mouth. His legs are so week that he can’t even stand straight on his legs.
According to doctors the child needs two urgent operations, which will bless the child with a normal life but poor parents of the child is finding it difficult to arrange money for the treatment of the child.
Bipul Talukdar, a carpenter by profession is leaving no stone unturned to arrange money for the treatment of the child but as he is uneducated he is finding it difficult to meet officials or other prominent citizens and convince them for financial help.
In 2012, due to improper representation of the case in Raj Niwas by the parents and some of his well wishers, only Rs. 25,000 was released by the Lt. Governor’s office, for treatment in aCharityHospital. As there is no free lunch in this world, after costly tests and examinations the child was not given any kind treatment in the charity hospital and was asked to wait for eight long years for an operation.
Dejected parents, went to several hospitals acrossBangaloreand Kolkata with the amount released by Lt. Governor and some addition amount collected through donations, but due to lack of sufficient amount the child was denied treatment in all the treatment.
As time is running out and the condition of the child is deteriorating everyday, parents of the child are now getting restless.
“I want to save my son’s life at any cost. I work day and night, even on holidays to save money for his treatment but at this rate, even in next five years a poor father like me, won’t be able to save enough money for his treatment. My son needs a miracle,” Bipul Talukdar, father of the kid told Andaman Sheekha with tears in his eyes.
Specialists fromAmritaHospitalhad recently given an estimate of Rs. 3.5 lakhs for the complete treatment (which include two major operations) of the child, an amount, which looks impossible for the parents. The family, Bipul Talukdar, his wife and two sons, presently live in a single room hut, little bigger than poultry shed, constructed in the backyard of a building. Whenever Mr. Talukdar is not working, he meets people to get some ideas about the treatment of his son.
“In 2012 we could not represent the case of my son properly with the Lt. Governor’s office as we had faith on theCharityHospitalbut that faith has shattered now. Now, only Lt. Governor can save my son’s life,” said the distressed father.
In past, Lt. Governor has saved life of atleast two dozens of such poor patients by releasing necessary funds from LG’s Relief Fund. The case of four years old, Bibek Talukdar, is one of the most deserving cases and hope this time also the Lt. Governor won’t disappoint the needy family.
