Port Blair, Jan 15: To promote coconut cultivation and to increase its productivity level, the Department of Agriculture, Diglipur in association with Coconut Development Board scheme of High Value Agriculture Development Agency, is implementing various schemes. In this context, the Department of Agriculture, Diglipur in association with High Value Agriculture Development Agency, has organized a “Farmers Meet” on 15th Jan., 2013 at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur during the Diglipur Vikas Mela, 2013. The Programme was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, Guest of Honor, Dr. Krishna Moorthy, Director, Fisheries, Dr. Balakrishnan, Director of Animal Husbandry & Vet. Science, Shri Gourango Dutta, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur along with Dr. K. A. Naveen, Senior Veterinary Officer, Shri Sailesh Kumar, Assistant Fisheries Dev. Officer, Shri R. Ajay Kumar, Asst. Conservator of Forests and Shri Swapan Kumar Mallick, Pilot Plant Incharge.
Shri Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Project Director (ATMA), Diglipur in his welcome address highlighted the objectives of Farmers Meet and appealed the farmers to raise their issues to get fruitful solutions. While addressing the gatherings, Dr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur appreciated the efforts being taken by the Department for organization of such programmes and urged the farmers to come forward with their field related issues.
Later on, during the interaction session various issues raised by the farmers as well as PRI members were timely supply of seeds, nominal rate of coconuts by Agriculture Department and also other issues related to allied departments were raised. The queries were noted and necessary solution/suggestion were replied by the concerned dignitaries. In the end, the inputs were distributed to the beneficiaries of “Layout of Demonstration Plots in Coconut garden“under CDB scheme of High Value Agriculture.
Altogether 100s of gatherings witnessed the programme and the programme concluded with vote of thanks by Smt. R.Bhu Bharthy, A.A., Diglipur.
