Port Blair, Aug 11: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI wrote a letter the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands and the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration regarding Skill mapping in order to ensure to meet the requirement of market for skilled and trained workforce and brought the attention that the administration’s vision and policy for developing the necessary skills for youngsters in line with the present employment opportunities and upcoming job prospects in the islands are deficient and has to be addressed for holistic development of these islands.
In his letter he mentioned the Government of India, under the vibrant leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has been giving utmost importance to Andaman & Nicobar Islands to ensure its holistic development.
Further he wrote that there are a number of projects which have commenced & concluded by which a large number of people have been benefited. A number of projects are on the verge of completion and after completion of which several thousands of people would be benefited.
Similarly, there are few forthcoming projects, including the Great Nicobar Transshipment Port, Palm Oil cultivation as part of the National Edible Oil Mission, and several sustainable feasible projected projects that would require highly skilled manpower but as we they are not largely available in our Islands, we would require our budding youths to empower themselves by educating them with the best skills in our Islands. These enterprises would need certain specified skills to operate, which would provide various job opportunities for young people on these islands.
Further Mr. Jolly stressed that in order to capitalize on these upcoming opportunities, due emphasis must be placed on skill training based on market requirement, the introduction of new courses in various educational institutions, as well as in the curriculum of vocational training at the school level, in accordance with the New Education Policy, based upon the skill mapping of islands. The Islanders youth would be prepared to explore employment options with the necessary skills, thus providing employment opportunities.
Mr. Jolly expressed concern that unless & until a detailed market assessment is made with a futuristic vision, keeping in mind the forthcoming projects, the youths of our Islands will not be largely benefited.
He also added that an emphasis must be given to commence skill mapping of these upcoming projects and lay the foundation to educate our younger generation in our own Colleges, Educational Institutions like Polytechnic, Industrial Training Institutes etc. Special Training programs should be undertaken & started in order to empower them to get jobs that would be created by the aforementioned forthcoming projects.
Concluding in his letter he requested that, in order to meet the market’s demand for skilled/highly skilled workforce to begin the process of skill mapping and training.
