Port Blair, June 23: On observance of INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 20230, on 21th June 2023, The Composite Regional Centre A&N Islands in association with Vasumathi Yoga Clinic organized “An Adaptive Yoga Event” for Divyangjan in seminar hall at CRC, A&N-Islands. The theme of the year is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”
The purpose of the event is to provide awareness & Knowledge about yoga for everyone including persons with disabilities and to the community in an inclusive method. In fact, there is no physical or neurological limitation that has ever stopped anyone from learning or doing yoga.
The programme was inaugurated and chaired by Prof. Dr. S. Balaji, HOD, Department of Coastal Disaster Management and he delivered a speech about the history of yoga. Mrs. Sumithamol, Resident Nodal Officer, addressed the gathering with a welcome note.
Mr. Sera Arasan, Founder cum Yoga Instructor, Vasumathi Yoga Clinic instructed yoga poses for the children with special needs. The CwSN, their parents, siblings and staff members of CRC altogether 65 people were participated and get benefitted. The gathering has been informed of the importance of yoga and how it will positively affect the development of the children in all areas and healthy food habits for CwSN.
Successfully, the event achieved the objective of proving that all children, regardless of ability or disability, have the right to be respected and appreciated as valuable members of the community and to participate fully in all activities.
