Port Blair, June 18: An impressive Ceremonial farewell parade was held in the honor of Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, the outgoing DGP, at Police Lines, Parade Ground on 17/06/2022. A total of 06 platoon comprising IRBn, Executive Police (Male & Female), Fire Service and two Police Bands (Male Brass Band and Ladies Pipe Band) participated in the Farewell Parade. The parade was commanded by Mr. Naveen Kumar, Deputy Commandant, IRBn. All senior Police officers ranging from DIGP to Dy. SP and all rank and files from all Units of Police Department attended the function.
Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, DGP, in his address conveyed his greetings to residents of A&N Islands in general, and all personnel of A&N Police in particular. He lauded the courage, sincerity and dedication shown by the brave soldiers and officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Police towards maintaining peace and tranquility, tourist safety, prevention and detection of crime, dealing with fire calls and natural disaster, G20 & VVIP security etc. even in difficult circumstances.
While highlighting the major achievements of A&N Police in the past 13 months, Mr. Neeraj Thakur mentioned about timely promotions of 115 police personnel, benefit of MACP Schemes by 274 police personnel, benefit of 40 lakh rupees by personnel as a cash reward, timely reinstatement of police personnel, launching of transparent transfer policy, quarter allotment and e-Avkash application for police personnel. Further also mentioned that the A & N Police has signed an MoU with State Bank of India, under which a Police Salary Package has been provided to all police personnel, such as insurance cover of 40 lakhs in case of accidental death and complete and partial disability, provision of up to 5 lakhs for air ambulance, insurance cover of 1 crore in case of air accident death, 5 lakh rupees for the education of the children of the deceased, provision of Rs.5 lakh for the marriage of the daughter of the deceased, etc.
Last but not the least, the DGP appealed to all police personnel to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, professionalism, transparency, integrity & sincerity to take the A&N Police to new and glorious heights.
Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS joined as DGP of A&N Islands on 09th May, 2022 and after a successful tenure of 13 months, is returning back to Delhi on his transfer.
