Port Blair, Jan 04: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has approved reduction of room tariff for Journalists of A&N Islands in all the guest houses located in the Islands thus fulfilling the long pending demand of the local Journalists.
Journalists of the Islands will now be provided concessional room tariff i.e. 50% of the room tariff applicable to others. The tariff for Journalists in all circuit houses and Govt. guest houses located in the A&N Islands except South Point circuit house, Dolphin resort, Havelock and transit accommodation near Police Line, Port Blair has been fixed at Rs 150/- for double bedded Non AC rooms and Rs 250/- for double bedded AC accommodation.
It may be recalled that in a recent Press Meet, the Secretary, IP&T had assured the local Journalists that reduction in the room tariff of guest houses for them is under active consideration of the Administration.
