Port Blair, Mar 13: Under the guidance of Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration, the Directorate of Disaster Management, A & N Administration in coordination with A&N Police, A&N Police Fire Services and NDRF has organized a Table-Top-Exercise in the Cinema Hall (Anand Paradise Multiplex), Port Blair on 13.04.2023 for the conduct of Mock Drill on Earthquake on 18.04.2023 to test the preparedness and response system of the said Cinema Theater.
At the outset, Mr. Gyan Singh, Asst. Director (Log.), DDM, A&N Administration welcomed all the stakeholders and Cinema Theater personnel and explained about the importance of conducting Mock Drills in Cinema Theater and emphasized on the importance of awareness, preparedness and mitigation efforts with regard to Disaster Management. Mr. Janik Ram, Asst. Director (Admn.) and Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, Sr. Consultant, DDM had clearly briefed the scenario of the proposed Mock Drill. The roles & responsibilities of each individual/ group of the said Cinema Theatre and supporting role of other stakeholders i.e. A & N Police, A & N Fire Services, Health, NDRF and District Administration, South Andaman had been clearly defined to manage emergency situations during incidents/crises. They had also highlighted the advantages of having the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)/Emergency Plan of Cinema Theatre for Disaster Management.
This was followed by briefing the roles & responsibilities of A&N Police, Fire Services and NDRF by Mr. Ashok Chaubey, Inspector (Comm.), Mr. Jagdish Verma, Inspector (Fire) and Mr. Vishnu Singh, SI (NDRF) respectively.
They also took the stock of preparedness for smooth conduct of the said Mock Drill on 18.04.2023 and they explained the vital role to play by the Management of the Cinema Theater and stakeholders of Administration and other agencies at the time of any disaster. After a detailed deliberation, Mock Exercise Scenarios have been finalized for the conduct of Mock Exercise.
